The Technical Certificate in Biomedical Electronics Technology is a post-Associate Degree completion program that prepares students for entry-level positions as Biomedical Electronics Technicians. A minimum of an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Automation and Systems Integration with Electronics Emphasis or an approved equivalent AAS degree in Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, or related degree field is required for admission to this challenging program. Careers in this field involve maintaining and repairing medical equipment utilized in the full range of health care facilities. A wide range of coursework supplements the core electronics curriculum and is combined with specific Internship experiences to ensure that students are fully prepared to work in medical facilities. The program is designed to prepare students with the technical content for the Biomedical Electronics Technician (BMET) Certification Examination offered by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).
