NURS 1114 - Medical-Surgical Nursing I Credits: 4 (8 week course) Medical-Surgical Nursing I is an 8 week course designed to introduce the Traditional RN student to the study of adult-medical surgical patients. Student Learning Outcomes are expanded upon which include the importance of providing patient-centered care, therapeutic communication, supporting teamwork, and providing for patient safety. The significance of evidence-based practice, quality improvement and informatics is integrated to promote positive patient outcomes. Theory and clinical experiences are related to the course content. Lecture 4 hours per week, Clinical 12 hours per week. Prerequisite(s): NURS 1107
