HVAC 2504 - Commercial Refrigeration Fundamentals Credits: 4 This course introduces the student to the fundamentals of commercial refrigeration. Topics covered in lecture/lab include: Commercial Refrigeration Controls and Components; Proper procedures for Ice Machine installation, maintenance, and servicing; Proper procedures for Walk-In Coolers and Walk-In Freezer sizing, installation, maintenance, and servicing; Proper procedures for Reach-In Coolers and Reach-In Freezers, and Prep Table installation, maintenance, and servicing; Proper procedures for Semi-Hermetic Reciprocating Compressor break-down and repair of gaskets, valves, valve plates, piston, rings, crankshaft, and the compressor oil pumps will be covered. This course is typically offered in Summer with weekly lecture/lab hours modified as needed to fit the schedule. Lecture 2 hours and lab 4 hours per week. Pre/Co-requisites Pre / Co-requisite: HVAC 1216 Air Conditioning and Refrigeration I with a grade of “C” or better.
