HVAC 1216 - Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Fundamentals


Credits: 6
This course introduces the student to the fundamentals of air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Topics covered in lecture/lab include the theory and concepts of the refrigeration cycle, refrigerant safety, refrigeration components and controls, types of refrigerants, Psychrometrics, refrigerant charging techniques, and refrigerant retrofitting. Other topics of air conditioning and refrigeration fundamentals included installation, maintenance, and servicing of residential and light commercial air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Lecture 3 hours and Laboratory 9 hours per week. Pre/Co-requisites Pre / Co-requisites: HVAC 1122 Intro to HVAC/R with a grade of “C” or better.
