HVAC 1404 - Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Fundamentals II Credits: 4 This course continues the study of air conditioning and refrigeration fundamentals in residential and light commercial applications. Topics covered in lecture/lab include Commercial HVAC applications and concepts. Direct Digital Controls (DDC) installation and integration with commercial rooftop package units, DDC software procedures, and protocols, pneumatic controls, variable drives, economizers, heat reclaim systems, Commercial Air Handlers, and Air-Cooled Chillers. Other topics include installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Commercial RTU’s, Air Handlers, and Air-Cooled Chillers. Students will be required to sit for the ICE Certification Exam. This course is typically offered in Summer with weekly lecture/lab hours modified as needed to fit the schedule. Lecture 2 hours and lab 4 hours per week. Pre/Co-requisites Pre / Co-requisite: HVAC 1216 Air Conditioning and Refrigeration I with a grade of “C” or better.
