HVAC 1304 - Heating Fundamentals II


Credits: 4
This course continues the study of heating fundamentals in residential and light commercial applications. Topics covered in lecture/lab include theory and concepts of heat pump components and controls, single and two-stage heat pumps, variable speed heat pumps, mini-split heat pumps, air handlers, hybrid systems, and geothermal systems. Other topics include installation, maintenance, and servicing of heat pump systems. This course is typically offered in Summer with weekly lecture/lab hours modified as needed to fit the schedule. Lecture 2 hours and lab 4 hours per week. Pre/Co-requisites Pre / Co-requisite: HVAC 1216 Air Conditioning and Refrigeration I with a grade of “C” or better.
