This Certificate of Proficiency covers the general knowledge and skills outlined in the FAA Aviation Mechanic General Airman Certification Standards (ACS), providing a strong foundation for students who progress to an approved FAA Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School. In addition to earning Northark’s Certificate of Proficiency, completers will have the opportunity to earn the Aviation Technician Education Council (ATEC) General Aviation Maintenance Credential. This credential enhances employability for those going straight into the workforce.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate proficiency in aircraft electrical systems, fluid and mechanical components, materials and hardware, weight and balance calculations, and ground operations.
- Apply industry-standard maintenance, inspection, and repair techniques to ensure aircraft airworthiness and regulatory compliance.
- Utilize principles of physics, aerodynamics, and mathematics to perform accurate calculations and assessments related to aircraft performance and safety.
- Interpret and apply FAA regulations, manufacturer specifications, and maintenance documentation to execute maintenance tasks in compliance with industry standards.
- Incorporate teamwork, communication, and risk management strategies to enhance operational safety and efficiency.
- Adhere to best practices in corrosion prevention, environmental protection, and documentation to support a culture of safety and accountability in aviation maintenance.
