The power sports industry, involving ATVs and UTVs, and turf equipment management are rapidly-growing fields. When something breaks, it needs to be fixed right. Local employers have expressed a need for mechanics with specific skills in turf equipment, small engine repair and outdoor power equipment to maintain and repair professional, commercial and recreational equipment.
The Certificate of Proficiency will quickly provide students the knowledge and hands on training within the power sports industry. Students will gain experience with fuel systems, suspension and steering systems, motor cycle systems, and shop management.
Student Outcomes:
- Identify and explain the function of key systems in Outdoor Power Equipment and demonstrate the ability to diagnose issues within those systems.
- Demonstrate proper skills in tool usage, workspace organization, safety protocols, and inventory management.
- Demonstrate how to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain small engines, including conducting system diagnostics, replacing parts, and completing service procedures according to industry standards.
