The Associate of Science in Education is a transfer degree for the student who plans to obtain an Elementary (K-6) or Mid-level (4-8) teaching degree from Arkansas Tech University, Arkansas State University in Mountain Home, University of Central Arkansas, or Harding NWA. Northark has agreements with these universities to offer students seamless options for transfer to junior/senior level courses required to ultimately obtain a bachelor’s degree in teaching. Since these institutions have variations in required courses, students should work closely with a Northark advisor to complete specific courses needed for a smooth transition to the junior level at any of these colleges.
Program Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to identify and reflect upon various attributes of an effective teacher, including, but not limited to, establishing a positive classroom environment, strategies for classroom management, maintaining student/teacher rapport, curriculum requirements, and lesson plans. Students will be able to successfully use various forms of technology to assist them in the completion of activities and lesson plans for use with future students.
