The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Technology Program’s Technical Certificate from North Arkansas College prepares students for an entry level career focusing on the installation, service, and maintenance of Residential and Light Commercial HVAC Systems, Commercial HVAC Systems, and Light Commercial Refrigeration Systems.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of safety practices, protocols, and procedures used within the HVAC/R Industry.
- Demonstrate the necessary soft skills in communications, social interactions, and professionalism.
- Demonstrate how to apply mathematical equations, formulas, and processes necessary for the design, installation, and operation of HVAC/R Equipment and Systems.
- Demonstrate basic concepts in electricity, electrical circuits, electrical and electronic components, gas and oil components, and air conditioning and refrigeration components.
- Demonstrate how to identify and evaluate technical drawings and diagrams, electrical diagrams and schematics, and manufacturer’s charts and requirements for installation and service of HVAC/R Equipment and Systems.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal laws pertaining to HVAC/R Equipment Installation and the handling of all types of refrigerants.
- Successfully sit for the Industry Competency Exam.
- Successfully sit for the NATE “Core” Exam.
- Successfully sit for the EPA “Universal” Exam.
