ENGR 2204 - Solar PV Systems and Renewable Credits: 4 This advanced course builds on the principles introduced in Solar Photovoltaic Systems and Renewable Energies I, focusing more on the design, installation, and performance analysis of grid-tied and off-grid PV systems with integrated battery storage. Students will apply electrical theory and system design methodologies to create functional solar and hybrid systems. Topics include advanced PV array configuration, inverter selection, string sizing, charge controller integration, and system troubleshooting. Lab activities provide hands-on experience with multi-string PV systems, battery management systems (BMS), and system monitoring tools. The course prepares students for the NABCEP PV Associate exam and entry-level employment in solar installation and maintenance. Lecture: 3 hours and Laboratory: hours.
Prerequisite(s): ENGR 1224
