EMS 1005 - Medical Professional Education EMS I


Credits: 5
The first EMT course in the Fall semester will consist of 6 credit hours. The first-semester course will begin with an introductory study of the existing medical emergency services and the basic principles, procedures, and techniques of emergency care. It will then move to a mid-level understanding of the responsibilities of an EMT by emphasizing the student’s further development of skills in critical thinking, patient assessment and emergency medical care procedures. Students will follow the curriculum for a cardiac arrhythmia course set as a prerequisite for the Paramedic program. Students will have extensive classroom and hands on lab time to ensure that they have a great foundational knowledge to succeed in EMT. Lecture 5 hours per week.
