CIS 1123 - Introduction to GIS Credits: 3 This course provides an overview of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and their applications in drone operations, environmental analysis, urban planning, and more. Students will learn the fundamentals of spatial data collection, storage, management, analysis, and visualization using industry-standard GIS software. Key topics include map projections, coordinate systems, spatial databases, and integrating UAS-collected data into GIS workflows. Through hands-on exercises, students will develop skills to analyze geographic data and generate maps and reports that support informed decision-making in various fields. Lecture 3 hours per week.
