UAS 1013 - Safety and Matenance Credits: 3 This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of safety protocols and maintenance procedures for uncrewed aerial systems (UAS), with a focus on multi-rotor drones. Students will learn FAA safety regulations, pre-flight and post-flight checklists, risk assessment techniques, and emergency response procedures to ensure safe and legal drone operations. The course covers routine maintenance, troubleshooting common hardware and software issues, battery management, and component replacement to maximize drone performance and longevity. Through hands-on practice and case studies, students will develop the skills needed to identify potential hazards, implement preventative maintenance strategies, and ensure operational reliability in various drone applications. Lecture 3 hours per week.
