The Department of Nursing at North Arkansas College provides an associate degree education for those qualified individuals who want to provide direct patient care as members of the health care delivery system. Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to write the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses.
The AAS Nursing Degree Programs are approved by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing, University Tower Building, Suite 800, 1123 South University, Little Rock, AR 72204-1619, phone: 501-686-2700 or at www.arsbn.org.
The AAS Nursing Degree Programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for the Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN), 3334 Peachtree Rd. NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA, 30326, phone: 404-975-5000, fax 404-975-5020 or at www.acenursing.org.
The curriculum in nursing is a fulltime program, requiring a fulltime commitment from its students. The faculty of the Department of Nursing strongly discourages its students from fulltime or part-time employment. Students with financial difficulties should discuss alternatives to employment with the Financial Aid Office. For information about the Nursing Student Loan Program visit the Arkansas State Board of Nursing website at www.arsbn.org. The schedule of students requires a flexible lifestyle as clinical experience is held at area facilities during assigned hours which may be days or evenings. Because of this, transportation, child care and any employment should be considered prior to entry into the nursing program.

The My Academic Plan (MAP) serves as a guideline to graduate in five semesters. The Key Milestones/Prerequisites listed for each semester highlight significant achievements that must be completed in the degree track. Students who do not follow the five-semester plan and/or who do not complete identified milestones may jeopardize their financial aid (if applicable) and/or delay graduation.
Academic Preparedness
Northark recognizes the important connection between student success and academic preparedness. Students may be required to complete one or more of the following courses before enrolling in the MAP sequence of courses. Summer and/or intercession courses may be required to graduate within five semesters. Developmental course credits earned do not count towards degree completion requirements.
