The Associate of Arts is a 60-credit hour degree designed for the student who plans to transfer to a four-year institution. Core coursework includes the 35-hour state minimum general education requirements in English/writing, the humanities and fine arts, history and the social sciences, mathematics, and the natural sciences. It is designed to meet lower division requirements in General Education for most four-year institutions. Students planning to transfer should work closely with a North Arkansas College advisor to follow the prescribed selection of courses and other requirements needed for transfer into a bachelor’s program. Remedial/developmental education courses are used for placement purposes only and cannot be used to fulfill degree requirements.
