This MAP serves as a guideline for Licensed LPN’s to graduate in 4 semesters. The Key Milestones/Prerequisites listed for each semester highlight significant achievements that must be completed in the degree track. Students who do not follow the four semester plan and/or who do not complete identified milestones may jeopardize their financial aid (if applicable) and/or delay graduation. Please refer to the Northark catalog or advisor for any changes or modifications which may have occurred after the publication of this document.

Academic Preparedness

Northark recognizes the important connection between student success and academic preparedness. Students may be required to complete one or more of the following courses before enrolling in college level courses. Summer and/or intercession courses may be required to graduate within 4 semesters. Developmental course credits earned do not count towards degree completion requirements.

LPN to RN Nursing


The LPN to RN Bridge prepares Licensed Practical Nurses to become Registered Nurses. The program begins each January. Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to write the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. Admission

To be eligible for admission into the LPN to RN Program, LPNs must:

  1. Meet the admission requirements for the Associate Degree in Nursing Program in current Northark catalog and make application by September 1.
  2. Have evidence of satisfactory completion of a state-approved Practical Nursing Program.
  3. Have verification of current unencumbered LPN Licensure.
  4. Have, from their employers, on the employers’ letterhead, verification of 3 months or 120 hours of employment as an LPN.
  5. Have completed the 16 hours of prerequisites.
  6. Upon admission to the program, the student will submit to a criminal background check prior to clinical experience. Two to six months before completion of the program, the student will undergo both a state and federal criminal background check for licensure as a nurse in Arkansas, which requires a fingerprint card. The Criminal Background Check shall be completed no earlier than 12 months prior to the application for licensure by examination. Students seeking licensure in another state must contact that state for licensure requirements. A 10 Panel UA drug screen will be completed by accepted applicants. Information regarding the time and lab where the drug screen is to be performed will be given to the student in the orientation information before starting nursing classes.

All science courses required by the nursing program taken prior to entry in the program must be successfully completed within five years of acceptance into the program. Science courses older than five (5) years must be repeated.

MAT 1134 or ET 1134 - Applied Algebra & Trigonometry  will not be accepted as an option for the math requirement for this program.

Students must complete each required course in the remainder of this MAP with a minimum grade of “C” to obtain this degree.

Students begin in the Pre-Allied Health Technical Certificate. Required courses (bold) from the Pre-Allied Health Technical Certificate are to be completed prior to program entry include:

  • Current un-encumbered LPN License is required.
  • Students who complete the above Pre-Requisites (Sciences taken no longer than 5 years previous to application) are ready to apply to the LPN-RN Program.
  • Applicants who have taken or enrolled in a science course more than two times and have not earned a grade of C or better will be advised to consider application to other programs. Withdrawals are counted as an enrollment. The RN Director may review applicant’s grades for special admission consideration.
  • Upon written program acceptance, the following courses are taken. NURS courses in the LPN-RN Program must be taken in sequence. Failure of any NURS course prevents progression in the program.
