This course surveys the significant phases of the history of the United States from its beginnings to the Civil War and Reconstruction. It stresses the political development of the republic and the military aspects of its rise to its present eminence as well as cultural, social and economic history. Prerequisite(s): ACT Reading score of 23 or higher and ACT composite score of 22 or higher or 92 or higher on COMPASS Reading OR 3.3 GPA with 12 or more college credit hours OR permission of instructor.
