MLT 2212 - Basic Immunology Credits: 2 This course includes a survey of basic immunology principles to provide the student with a general background in immunology. Emphasis will be placed on certain concepts and major aspects of the immune response (and more detailed discussions will be held later in immunohematology). The specific and nonspecific immune responses as well as humoral and cellular immunity will be covered. An overview of autoimmunity, immunodeficiency and other immune diseases will be covered. Upon completion of this course, the student will understand the role immunology plays in the treatment of patients. Prerequisite(s): Acceptance into the MLT Program or instructor approval. Lecture 2.5 hours per week. Prerequisite(s): Acceptance into the MLT Program or approval of instructor.
